The Lightning will host Mornington Peninsula HC for the opening round of the Vic League 1 competition.
"It's a fantastic way to start our season, at home showcasing our amazing facilities," NWL president Ross Evans said.
Evans said Mornington was certain to bring a challenging brand of hockey for the season-opener.
"They are very competitive and we've always had close battles with their teams," he said.
"However, everyone is in a bit of an unknown after there being no season last year.
"The magnitude of change in our rosters from 2019 is significant but it's the same as most teams throughout the competition."

Reserves: NWL VL1 Women v Mornington at 12.30pm, NWL Men V Mornington at 17.30pm.
