A PERSON has died after fire destroyed a home in Waanyarra on Wednesday morning.

Emergency services were called to reports of a fire on a property on Bridgewater-Dunolly Road at Waanyarra, 15km east of Dunolly, just before 12.30am.
One person was located deceased inside the property. Police are yet to formally identify the deceased and will await results of forensic testing.

A CFA spokesperson said crews responded to reports fire incident in Waanyarra at 12.27am on Wednesday.
The spokesperson said crews found a shed fully involved and collapsed with the house also involved.
Police are investigating the fire after a crime scene was set up.
Investigators are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire.
