READ MORE - Perez earns praise from coach after AFL debut
BENDIGO'S Flynn Perez has suffered a devastating blow on the eve of North Melbourne's AFL season, with the 19-year-old ruled out for the year and requiring another knee reconstruction.
Perez missed all of his top-age year with the Bendigo Pioneers in 2019 after undergoing a knee reconstruction.
He played three games for the Kangaroos last season, but the club confirmed on Friday Perez had ruptured the graft in his previously reconstructed knee, which will require a second full ACL reconstruction.
"This is obviously devastating for Flynn being his second reconstruction," North Melbourne football boss Brady Rawlings said in a club statement.
"Flynn's attitude has always been first class and we have no doubt that he will return in great shape and have a real impact for us in the years to come.
"He's very much part of this club's future and as we do with all our players, we'll take a long-term approach to his physical and mental well-being."

Meanwhile, Gisborne under-18 premiership player Harrison Jones will make his AFL debut for Essendon against Hawthorn on Saturday night.
Jones kicked five goals for the Bulldogs in their 2018 BFNL under-18 grand final win over Sandhurst.
The 19-year-old forward has overcome a foot stress fracture last year.
Former Bendigo Pioneer Jye Caldwell will also play his first game for the Bombers after his trade from the GWS Giants during the off-season.
Essendon takes on Hawthorn at Marvel Stadium from 7.25pm.
