Loddon Valley Netball Association will field a well prepared team in tomorrow’s inter-league clash against the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football League.Coached by league YCW’s Janelle Hobbs, the Loddon Valley side has been preparing for the clash since the beginning of May.Hobbs, who will coach LVNA’s inter-league team for the first time, said her team had plenty of time together on court.“We played together as a team in the Bendigo Football Netball League tournament and didn’t lose a game during the rounds, but lost the semi-final,” Hobbs said.“We’ve also trained every week since then and are really getting along well.“We also had a practice match against Eaglehawk’s A-grade side and it was a really close contest, so we’re pretty well prepared.”The Loddon Valley team boasts a number of players from the YCW side, as well as some notable inclusions from Calivil United.“One of the players to watch is Brianna Lawry from Calivil. She is a very accurate goaler and a great mover and I expect she will team well with (YCW’s) Cara Bastian,” Hobbs said.“Lauren Freemantle from Calivil in defence will also be strong and will combine well with Carly Geary, who is also from YCW.“We’ve got lots of options across the board and a very strong bench.”Maryborough Castlemaine’s inter-league squad has also had some notable inclusions due to the league’s expansion this year.Newstead coach Bernie Buntsma, who will be heading up this year’s squad, said her team had been bolstered by players from the league’s newest teams.“With the inclusion of three new teams we’ve been able to pick up some players from teams like like Natte Bealiba and Lexton,” she said.“We actually played Lexton Plains in last year’s inter-league so it’s great to have some of those girls on board.”The MCDFL team includes four players from last year’s side, including Carisbrook’s Sherridan Bryne and Dunolly’s Ashlee Lierich.“Sherriden, who is our captain, has been with Carisbrook for quite a few years and is a great defender and a tough competitor,” Buntsma said. “Ashlee Lierich is another great defender with an excellent vertical leap and will be an important player for us.”Also returning for a second year is Newstead’s Megan Krugar and Dunolly’s Jane King.INTER-LEAGUE TEAMSLoddon Valley seniors: Cara Bastian, Leisa Barry, Carly Geary, Georgia Cross, Stacey Bell (YCW), Brianna Lawry, Lauren Freemantle (Calivil United), Sarah Ludeman (Mitiamo) Jessica Morrison.Maryborough Castlemaine seniors: Jane King, Ashlee Edwards, Ashlee Lierich, Jess Fuller (Dunolly), Olivia McEvoy, Ingird Hopkins (Natte Bealiba), Megan Kruger (Newstead), Julia Coates (Lexton), Fiona Thurmann (Maldon), Sherriden Byrne (Carisbrook).Loddon Valley under-17s: Gabby Kennedy, Laura Philbrick, Stella Calder, Chelsea Mann, Laura Parkhill, Rhiannon Green, Amelia Ludeman, Carly Downs, Michaela Metelmann.Maryborough Castlemaine under-17s: Caitlyn Howell, Brylie Parker, Ashley Coghlan, Rebecca McKnight, Aley Earl, Emma Allen, Simone Mitchell, Sadie Slorach, Jaylea Ford, Courtney Holden, Heather Tweddle.Loddon Valley under-15s: Sharna Appleby, Zoe Kennedy, Montana Kekich, Samantha Borserio, Taylah Mangan, Jamie Dingwall, Annie Dullard, Elli Williams, Rielly Johnstone.Maryborough Castlemaine under-15s: Meg Tong, Nina Cowie, Meg Ginnivan, Kate Douglass, Jacana Gordon, Taylor Mason, Maddy Ruggles, Ellie Short, Abbey Parker, Ebony Howell, Teresa Fitzpatrick.
