FFMVic regional manager of forest and fire operations Paul Bates said the program would help create fuel breaks design to reduce the spread and intensity of fires.
"Removing potential fire fuels using these methods is an effective way to reduce the spread and intensity of future bushfires," he said. "It also assists firefighters with getting fires under control, helps keep communities safe and reduces the impact of bushfires on the environment.
"We're also improving bush tracks, which will make it quicker and easier for our firefighters to access future potential bushfires. The tracks also have the potential to be used as control lines to stop fires from spreading."
The Safer Together program sees fire and land agencies working together with communities by using local knowledge and the latest science and technology to reduce bushfire risk.
"Under Safer Together, fire management strategies are tailored to local environments and driven by community input. This benefits local communities and the environment," Mr Bates added.
