The blockage saw wastewater overflowing from a maintenance hole in Neil Street, Kangaroo Flat, and entering the nearby creek through a stormwater drain.
It was reported at 10am, Wednesday, with Coliban Water crews attending the scene to clear the blockage using a suction truck to clean up the drain. Crews also disinfected the area around the spill.

In a statement on their website, Coliban Water said the cause of the blockage was a build-up of fat, oil and grease, and other materials that can't break down in the sewer network. The company said it was a reminder that customers should only flush the three Ps - pee, poo and toilet paper.
A Coliban Water environmental response officer has also attended the site and taken water samples for water quality testing. The overflow has also been reported to the Environment Protection Authority Victoria.
