A tough 1000m benchmark 64 event will be spearheaded by the emerging Kym Hann-trained gelding Rogue Star and the exciting Rod Symons-trained mare Kiata.
The clash shapes as the highlight on the eight-race program, which will be the second last before the Bendigo Jockey Club's feature Golden Mile race day on Saturday, March 27.
Rogue Star, a winner of two of his three starts to date, will be resuming from a 10-week break between races.
The lightly-raced son of Group 1 Newmarket Handicap Wanted could not have been more impressive in winning at his last start at Geelong over 1200m and will again have the services of jockey John Allen.
Allen has previously ridden for Hann on seven occasions for the impressive strike-rate of four wins.
Rogue Star is an early $4.40 chance and second in betting behind only Kiata ($3.30), who is looking to build on her impressive city placing at Sandown on February 3 in a quality fillies and mares benchmark 70 event over 1000m.
A full sister to Symons' impressive recent city-placed filly Kaniva, Kiata has won two of six previous starts and been placed on four occasions.
Gold Spark ($5.50), for Caulfield trainer Nick Ryan, looms as the biggest threat to the Bendigo-trained pair on the strength of his win at Sale in December.
Astute Kyneton trainer George Osborne will have a pair of chances in the race headed by Eastern Pegasus ($10), who will be third up from a spell, and looking to go one better than his last start second at Ararat late last month.
Osborne will also saddle up Being Dazzled ($19) in the race.
