It has asked the City of Greater Bendigo for permission to add the new storey as part of a sweeping $3 million renovation at its High Street outlet.
The building's footprint would extend next door into properties currently containing a vacant block and several buildings.

Under the proposal, Beacon would still be the anchor tenant at the site and room would be set aside for other businesses.
The building was designed to be striking from the highway and show Beacon Lighting's corporate branding, according to the planning application
It is less than half of those that would normally be expected under the council's planning rules.
Traffic engineers commissioned by the planning applicants looked at car parking at similar sites across Victoria and believe that the site could have 36 cars at peak weekend times, but said it was likely that some customers would shop at multiple nearby locations.
