Fresh from leading the Pioneers' under-19 girls to their first win of the NAB League season on Saturday, O'Bree has been promoted from interim coach to full-time head coach.
O'Bree had been in the interim role after the resignation of Daian Truslove late in 2020.
A former star player and senior coach of South Bendigo and Mildura, O'Bree said he was excited to continue to build football in the Bendigo region.
"I have grown up in the Pioneers region and I have seen the challenges of being an elite footballer in the country, but (it's) one I am excited about and I can't wait to get started," O'Bree said.
"I am going to try and ensure we give boys and girls an opportunity to develop their football skills and knowledge to allow them to succeed both on and off the ground.
"We want our players to be the best they can be, whether that be great country footballers, or VFL/VFLW and AFL/AFLW players - we will try and set them up to succeed."
Bendigo Pioneers talent operations lead Brooke Brown praised O'Bree's passion and commitment to improving footballers across the Bendigo region.
"The appointment is a wonderful result for the region and will provide a sense of stability for the girls and boys football programs," Brown said.
"Danny has certainly made a great impression since I arrived at the club and his willingness to do the extras with players both in Bendigo and around the region has been impressive. He cares about all players and has got a clear plan of how he wants the program to develop moving into the future.
"Danny has a wealth of knowledge and a passion for developing young footballers throughout the Pioneers region.
"He ensures all players are having fun and enjoying their football while also challenging them to be the best players they can, which certainly showed on the weekend, with the girls first NAB League win of the season against the Murray Bushrangers."
The Pioneers' girls play their first game of the season this Sunday against Greatern Western Victoria Rebels, while the under-19 boys return to training next week.
