More than $4.5 million from central Victorian postcodes is sitting in the Unclaimed Money Register, belonging to 38,318 residents.
The 3550 postcode covering much of Bendigo had a total of $1,431,413 unclaimed, with a total of 12,959 entitlements.
Other news:
A total of $691,404 was sitting unclaimed in the 3555 postcode, which covers Big Hill, Golden Gully, Golden Square and Kangaroo Flat.
A total of $381,843 was unclaimed in the 3551 postcode, which includes Huntly, Axedale, Epsom, Junortoun and Lake Eppalock.
In California Gully, Eaglehawk and other 3556 suburbs a total of $251,784 remained unclaimed.
Around Castlemaine $231,080 was unclaimed, with 2056 entitlements registered in the 3450 postcode.
In the Macedon Ranges 2111 people in the 3444 postcode had $277,189 sitting unclaimed.
In the Echuca and Bamawn Extension region $517,989 was unclaimed, belonging to 3664 people.
Funds in the Unclaimed Money Register includes share dividends, salaries and wages, rent and bonds, debentures and interest and proceeds from sales.
Businesses and trustees holding $20 or more that has not been paid to any owner have a legal responsibility to record and keep the money for at least 12 months, then lodge it with the State Revenue Office.
Superannuation and funds from bank accounts are handled through agencies other than the State Revenue Office.
Anyone seeking access to their funds can complete an application form with supporting documents and send it to the State Revenue Office.
