Prior to Saturday the Woods hadn't won a game since January 25 last year - a result in which they also beat Castlemaine.
The Woods produced a scintillating performance at home to finally get back on the winner's list, belting the Maine 93-57 to gain some optimism that they may still be able to avoid the wooden spoon and potential relegation.
Inglewood's dominant victory followed several near-misses this season in which it lost four games by seven shots or less, including one shot against Castlemaine in their earlier round three encounter.
The Woods had three rinks up, including two convincing victories, with Lindsay Kelly defeating Darren Taylor 33-11 and Grant Jackson recording a 22-8 victory over Greg Podesta.
There were also two contests decided by one shot fought out.
Inglewood's Dale Jackson edged out Rod Phillips 18-17, while the only points Castlemaine took from the clash was Peter Brain's 21-20 victory over Rob Day.
The victory brings Inglewood to within 11 points of the seventh-placed Golden Square, while also dealing a blow to Castlemaine's finals aspirations.
* South Bendigo dished out a hiding to Bendigo East for the second time this season.
The Diggers won by 27 shots at home following their earlier 31-shot belting of the Beasties in round three.
Ethan Higgins (+5), Brad Holland (+8) and Max Rowley (+16) were all winning skippers for the third-placed Diggers, who closed the gap to second position from 17 points at the start of the day to 12.
The loss leaves East still yet to beat a fellow top-four side.
* Kangaroo Flat regained top spot on the ladder following its nine-shot win over Golden Square at home.
With the 82-73 result the Flat finally had some breathing space after they had played two ties and lost by one shot in their previous three games.
While Kangaroo Flat was victorious, the rink of David Keenan suffered its first loss of the season, going down 26-19 to Garri Conforti.
The rinks of the Flat's Barry Anset and Square's Daryl Cheeseman couldn't be split as they finished in a 17-all tie.
* There was no play in the Bendigo v Eaglehawk game due to the Bendigo green being shut following Friday's deluge of rain, leaving the two sides to spilt the points.
The Golden Square green was also closed on Saturday.
Greenskeeper Andrew Brown said following the closures: "The bowling greens were at a condition that didn't allow myself to prepare them to the high standards I set."
