Avoca River floods Charlton

HOMES and businesses in Charlton are flooding as the Avoca River continues to rise.There's no relief in sight for residents with emergency services still unclear when the river will peak.Sandbagging has resumed after extra loads of sand were delivered to the town this afternoon.Supplies ran short earlier and work had to stop for around an hour.But the new load of sand has come too late for some.A number of homes and businesses have already become victims to the rising floodwater and the number of properties inundated is expected to increase as the river continues to rise.Charlton's police station has been closed until further notice but local police will continue to provide assistance.People requiring police or emergency assistance should call triple zero.Full details in tomorrow's Bendigo Advertiser.
