JUST over a week out from their first game of the season, the Bendigo Pioneers have finalised their 2021 under-19 girls list.
The Pioneers will go into the NAB League girls season with a squad of 30 players, plus four players on their development list.
"We have been training hard over the past couple of weeks ensuring the girls are fully prepared for the start of the season," Pioneers interim coach Danny O'Bree said on Thursday.
"They have been working hard during education components of training to best understand how we want to play in games throughout the 2021 season.
"We are wanting to set the girls up to succeed in their football development.
"For our program it's all about walking way from each training and game having learned something and ensuring you were a good team-mate, played your role and, most importantly, had fun."
The Pioneers will begin their season on Saturday, February 6, against country rivals Murray Bushrangers in Yarrawonga, with the 2021 season coming on the back of just three games last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"The players had a year probably to forget last year without football, home schooling and everything else involved with the COVID pandemic. It's great to see the players back having fun, smiling and enjoying their football again," Pioneers talent operations lead Brooke Brown said.
Both the Pioneers' main list and development list can be added to this year if girls exceed at local league level.
The Pioneers girls will be part of an all NAB League testing day this Sunday at Bundoora's La Trobe University.
