South Bendigo veteran Joan Self set championship records in the 60-plus javelin, 19.80m, and 60-plus triple jump, 7.74m.
Club-mate Trudy Haines cleared 1.30 metres at high jump, a championship record for the 50-plus class.
A great run by Eaglehawk to again capture all three team titles included the 60-plus men's line-up of Kevin Shanahan, Peter Savage, Stephen Ryan and Terry Hicks clocking a time of 1:12.98 to break the 4 x 100m relay record.
Championship and residential records were set by South Bendigo in the 4 x 100m relays.
The team of Joan Self, Peta Dawe, Annette Curtis and Jennifer Payne clocked 1:16.92 in the 60-plus division.
A time of 1:04.88 by Carol Coad, Jackie Guillou, Debby Kirne and Trudy Haines set a 50-plus mark.
Many Bendigo residential records were broken, set, and another equalled in three days and two nights of hot competition at Llanberris Reserve.
Eaglehawk star Kathryn Heagney set 70-plus records for the 100m, 16.57; 200m, 34.97; 400m, 1:24.47; 800m, 3:27.19; and 2000m steeplechase 11:16.92.
South Bendigo's feat to be runner-up to Eaglehawk in overall team honours included some outstanding performances.
Emma Orme achieved a mark of 10.44m at shot put to set a new residential record for the under-14 age group.
Trudy Haines cleared two metres at pole vault and ran the 80m hurdles in 20.55 seconds to hold records for the 50-plus class.
Joan Self completed the 300m hurdles in 1:14.8 to set a 50-plus record.
In the pole vault action, James Woods equalled his under-18 to open record of 4.80 metres.
The South Bendigo line-up of Jackie Guillou, Carol Coad, Trudy Haines and Debby Kirne ran the 4 x 400m relay in 5:53.70 to break the 50-plus record.
In the medals tally, South Bendigo racked up 31 gold, 38 silver and 35 bronze.
Eaglehawk's haul of 98, best of all clubs, was 25 gold, 38 silver, 35 bronze.
Bendigo Harriers worked hard to be sixth in the team standings as it won 16 gold, 18 silver and 21 bronze medals.
Shepparton's tally was three gold, 11 silver, five bronze.
Distance runner Russell Jenkins won a silver and bronze for Bendigo University.
Next year's country championships will be at the Bendigo Regional Athletics Complex in Flora Hill.
