A CENTRAL Victorian man who threatened to kill a police officer after assaulting his pregnant partner has been released from jail on a community corrections order.

The man appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to charges including wilfully damaging property, theft, and contravening a family violence order.
The court heard on November 30 last year, the man was drinking at his home with his partner present.

The man, who was clearly intoxicated, became aggressive when the woman refused to give him money and tried to stop him from drinking more.
The court heard he grabbed her, squeezing her left wrist and shoving her onto the bed.
The woman was able to call 000 and police arrived at the property. A family violence safety notice was issued with the woman as the protected person.
The court heard the next day, the man was again intoxicated while at home with his partner.
He became angry after she would not give him money and started punching items of furniture, although he did not leave any damage.
The court heard the woman was scared for her life and her unborn child.
The man told his partner he wished he was with another woman and slapped her on the left side of her face and her back, leaving red marks.
The court heard he told the woman he wanted to "punch her until the blood came out of her eyes".
Police arrived at the home during the assault as part of a routine risk assessment for the family violence safety notice.
The court heard the man abused and threatened to kill the police officers as they tried to arrest him. The man also attempted to kick one of the officers.
The man on Monday also pleaded guilty to damaging his neighbour's car on November 19 last year.
The court heard the man was drunk when he used a metal pole to smash the victim's front windscreen, causing damage worth $350.
The man also admitted to stealing $250 from a taxi driver's wallet on May 2 last year.
Defence lawyer Robert Southgate told the court the man had issues with alcohol at the time of the offending.
He said his client had already served 55 days of pre-sentence detention and would be willing to complete a community corrections order when released.
Magistrate Rodney Higgins convicted and sentenced the man to 55 days in jail, which was reckoned as already served.
The man will be required to complete an 18-month community corrections order.
