The man appeared at the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to charges including burglary and theft.

The court heard sometime between 8am and 3.25pm on January 14 last year, the offender forced his way through the front door of the property in Huntly.

He grabbed watches, jewellery, and the keys to a Holden ute before entering the garage and stealing the car.

Police attended the man's home the next day, where they found the stolen vehicle. The man made full admissions to police about the burglary.

He told officers the offending was "sort of premeditated" and that he sold the jewellery "for a shard".

The court heard then on April 10, the man broke into a Bendigo recycling centre where he stole a large number of items including tools.

The man and another person attempted to sell the items at a Bendigo pawn shop on April 23, but were unsuccessful.

Police attended the man's address later that month and located the stolen tools.

The court heard then on January 14 this year, the man went to the home of a woman who had a family violence intervention order against him.

The man became verbally aggressive to the woman after drinking alcohol.

The court heard he punched a wall with a closed fist, leaving a hole, and smashed the windscreen of her car with a bottle.

The man also had an altercation with a teenager at the home, then left before police arrived at the address. The man was arrested and charged on Sunday.

Defence lawyer Luke Docherty told the court the man had issues with drugs and alcohol.

Mr Docherty submitted while a jail term was within range for the offending, a community corrections order would be more appropriate.

Magistrate Patrick Southey said the charges were serious and the family violence order breach was "appalling".

Mr Southey convicted and sentenced the man to two months in jail with one day reckoned as already served.

He was also handed an 18-month community corrections order and fined $300.

The man was disqualified from driving for two months.
