Kawhi Leonard scored 15 points on 4 for 21 shooting, and Luke Kennard and Nicolas Batum scored 14 points apiece for the Clippers.
Devin Booker had 25 points and eight assists, Deandre Ayton had 24 points and eight rebounds, and Chris Paul and Dario Saric finished with 15 points each for the Suns, who came in with the best record in the NBA at 5-1.
The Suns trailed by as many as 31 points in the first half before cutting the deficit to seven at the end of the third quarter.
Phoenix then scored the first five points of the fourth to trim the lead to 88-86, and got as close as one point with 10:20 remaining.
Booker missed a three-pointer with 34.6 seconds left that would have tied the score, and Batum made a 3 on the other end with 11.9 seconds remaining to give the Clippers a 110-104 lead.
In San Antonio, the Utah Jazz had their most productive outing of the season as Bojan Bogdanovic scored 28 points and they made a season-high 21 three-pointers to beat the San Antonio Spurs 130-109.
Joe Ingles had 13 points for the Jazz while fellow Australian veteran patty Mills had eight for Spurs.
In Los Angeles, LeBron James led the way as the defending champion Lakers overcame a persistent Memphis Grizzlies team108-94.
James was the driving force, playing with great effort and precision while scoring 13 of his 22 points in the fourth and flso finished with 13 rebounds and eight assists.
In Chicago, Zach LaVine led all scorers with 39 points and Coby White scored 21 of his 23 points after halftime to boost the host Bulls to a 118-108 victory against the Dallas Mavericks - their third win in four games.
Elsewhere, Golden State Warriors beat Portland Trailblazers 137-122, the Denver Nuggets defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 124-109, the Boston Celtics eked out a 122-120 win over the Detroit Pistons and the Washington Wizards beat the Brooklyn Nets 123-122.
