THE Rotary Club of Bendigo-Strathdale will hold a monster car boot sale on Saturday. The event will raise funds for shelterboxes, which are used in natural disasters.A shelterbox has thermal blankets, a rugged 10-person dome tent, tools and other survival equipment. The Rotary club’s community services director, Graeme Meager, said some of the funds raised would help buy shelterboxes for earthquake victims in Haiti.“The money raised will be channelled to victims through Rotary initiatives,” Mr Meager said.He said it was important for central Victorians to support the initiative.“I’d like to thank the IGA supermarket for allowing us to conduct the event there and the general public for donating other goods and services,” he said.Mr Meager said a range of items could be bought at the event, including plants, household and electrical goods and toys. He said residents could go along and sell goods by booking a site for $10.The monster car boot sale will be held at the IGA Strathfieldsaye car park from 8am to 11am on Saturday. A sausage sizzle will also be held.To book a site or to find out more about the event, email carbootsale@impulse.net.au
