Their hard work at 6 Herbert Avenue, Strathdale has won them the top prize in the Bendigo Advertiser Christmas lights competition.
But it is the expressions on people's faces that make it all worth it.
Just last year, a child barely old enough to walk gazed in wonder at it, their parents watching on.
The light display is so extensive that the Wests do not even need to turn lights on when they walk from the lounge room to their bedroom.
It has become a running joke with one set of neighbours who do not put up a Christmas display.
The Wests recently bought them a "ditto" sign to display in their garden as an answer to the Christmas light extravaganza.
The Wests won a $350 voucher from competition sponsor Hume & Iser Mitre 10, which they are thinking of spending on some well deserved outdoor furniture to relax on over summer.
