Bendigo Health's Anita Wild has received the award for Nurse Practitioner Mentor of the Year from the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners.
Bendigo Health chief nurse and midwifery officer David Rosaia said the award reflected Ms Wild's commitment and effort assisting nurses in palliative care throughout the Loddon Mallee.

Mr Rosaia said the award was testament to Miss Wild's passion for providing a holistic, family centered approach to care.
"We were very honoured when we heard that Anita had won. It's really a great accolade also for Bendigo Health to have someone that's won this award," Mr Rosaia said.
Miss Wild said it was an honour - and a shock initially - to be chosen out of the whole of Australia for the award.
She works mentoring both nurse practitioner candidates and upskilling registered nurses across six local community health care teams.
Miss Wild said she always tried to be approachable and enthusiastic in her work.
"There's always a learning opportunity. I'm a specialist in palliative care, but I can always learn from other nurse practitioners in their specialty area as well," she said.
"I always take each day as it comes and I know that I'm always learning and they're always learning."
Miss Wild said palliative care allowed her to get to know patients and their families on a deeper level, to improve their quality of life.
