The first Bendigo to Sydney QantasLink service in more than months will land at the city's airport on Monday.
Tourism operators say it's a welcome development after the COVID-19 crisis dried up trade for most of the year.
Motel owner Dean Brown said the flights resuming would be another step in a steady build in trade since Melbourne's "ring of steel" came down.
Other news:
Mr Brown said his motel Barclay on View had some business from the flights themselves, but even just the borders opening had massively increased the number of bookings.
Mr Brown said Qantas flights were just another avenue for people to come down from NSW. He said his business was booked to about 60 or 70 per cent capacity until Christmas, much higher than normal for the time of year.
"It's great that we've got people from Victoria that are travelling, but for our business to be sustained long term, we need everyone in Australia to be able to go where they want," he said.
Bendigo Tourism Board chair Finn Vedelsby said the flights would be great for businesses, because they would drawn Sydneysiders and their dollars into regional Victoria. Mr Vedelsby said the accommodation sector would be the first to benefit, but Sydney travelers would also be a boon for Bendigo eateries and attractions.
"Tourism related businesses in Victoria having been fully shut down for a significant amount of time ... need all of the help that they can get," he said.
"This brings tourism dollars, visits to our visitor economy, it buys food and wine and coffees and rooms, and in turn, pays local suppliers."
City of Greater Bendigo business services manager Ben Devanny said it was fantastic to see the popular Sydney flights resume.
QantasLink chief executive John Gissing said flights would likely carry more visitors to Bendigo, as international border closures inspired Australians to holiday at home.
The first Sydney-Bendigo QantasLink flight is due to land at 11.35am Monday, then depart from Bendigo again at noon.
