On a day where the majority of matches throughout the BBD ended in washed out draws, all four division one games were completed.
Square lifted itself off the bottom of the ladder with an 83-66 win at home over Bendigo.
Golden Square's victory was built on the back of the rinks of Travis Berry (+14) and Garri Conforti (+9).
Those two rinks offset the Bendigo wins of Andrew Brown (+5) and Lawrence Brooks (+1).
Golden Square's upset win continues its recent stranglehold over Bendigo.
Square has now won its past four matches against Bendigo by an average of 16 shots.
* Bendigo East has suffered a rare hat-trick of defeats, while Eaglehawk remains unbeaten following their clash at Lansell Street.
The Hawks prevailed 78-72 in a contest where both teams won two rinks apiece.
The closest of the battles was the Bendigo East rink of Brad Marron downing Dean Carter 19-17 to inflict Carter's first loss of the season.
The Eaglehawk rink of Mal McLean also lost for the first time, going down to the in-form Ian Ross rink 23-14.
And having lost just four times in his first two seasons at Bendigo East, gun skipper Lee Schraner endured a third-consecutive defeat with a 24-13 defeat to Darren Burgess.
* Kangaroo Flat's dominant form continued, belting Castlemaine by 34 shots.
The visiting Flat prevailed 92-58 to remain unbeaten and on top of the ladder.
Skipper David Keenan, lead Mal Balnaves, second Nick Davies and third John Berry showed why it's the No.1 rink in the competition, dishing out a 26-8 belting to Darren Taylor.
Keenan is now the only skipper with an unblemished 5-0 record after the previously undefeated rink of Cameron Keenan lost to Greg Podesta 19-17.
In a quirk of that Keenan-Podesta match-up, the opposing leads had identical names - Wayne Walsh.
* Reigning premier South Bendigo has climbed into the top four for the first time.
The Diggers extended their winning streak to three with a comfortable 92-68 victory over Inglewood that now leaves the Woodies as the only winless team.
