Parts of central Victoria are set to be affected by the north to northwesterly winds, expected to average 50 to 70 kilometres per hour.
Bendigo is not part of the warning area, but its forecast is for winds throughout the day, reaching up to 35 kilometres per hour in the evening.
Other news:
Elevated areas in central and western Victoria are expected to experience the damaging north to north westerly winds from Saturday morning. Peak gusts are expected to reach 100 to 110 kilometres per hour.
Pollen levels are forecast to be moderate on Saturday in the north central and northern country regions which cover central Victoria.
The thunderstorm asthma forecast is low for the region.
During the wind warning, the State Emergency Service has advised:
- Trees damaged by heat or fire may be more likely to fall when it is windy or wet
- Loose items, such as outdoor furniture, umbrellas and trampolines should be safely secured
- Vehicles should be moved undercover or away from trees
- To stay indoors away from windows
- Anyone outdoors should move to a safe place indoors, staying away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways
- To pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and flood water if driving conditions are dangerous
- To avoid dangerous hazards such as mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees
- Stay away from fallen power lines and assume they are live
- Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at VicEmergency
