A former journalist who allegedly sought out firearms training in preparation for a terrorist act remains behind bars.

James Michael Waugh, 29, did not appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court when his case was mentioned on Friday.
His lawyer Michael Cridland told the court there was no application for bail.
Waugh is charged with taking steps to seek out firearms training in preparation for, or planning, a terrorist act on or about September 3, according to court documents.
After arresting Waugh on November 27, police said investigators became concerned about threats he allegedly made towards a person.
A search warrant was executed at a property in Kepnock, near Bundaberg, on November 3 following a Queensland Joint Counter Terrorism Team investigation.
"A number of electronic devices and a notebook were seized by police at the address for evidentiary purposes," police said in a statement.
"It will be alleged the electronic devices contained documents indicating a desire to undertake acts of violent extremism."
Waugh previously worked as a journalist for The Queanbeyan Age.
His case is due to be mentioned again in Brisbane Magistrates Court on January 15.
