A BENDIGO school is delighted by funding that will allow it to refurbish a vital administration building and expand its art and music facilities.
St Joseph's Primary in Quarry Hill has been promised $1.4 million to redo a historic building on site.
It was one of two central Victorian schools to receive funding under the federal government's Capital Grants Program.

Castlemaine Steiner School in Muckleford is also set to receive $1.28 million to build specialist year seven and eight buildings which will include a science laboratory, information technology room and resource centre.
St Joseph's Primary principal Joan Coldwell said staff were very excited to receive funding, after trying for several years.
Mrs Coldwell said refurbishments would allow for more up to date art and music areas, as well giving staff more much-needed office space. She said the plan was to demolish some 1970s add ons to the building and redo the interior.
"Our current administration building is well over a 100 years old and is a beautiful old building, but really needs a refurbishment," Mrs Coldwell said.
"It's a very solid building, but we've got no running water in our sick bay, the staff amenities are very old and updated, the office area just isn't very accessible for people."
Mrs Coldwell said details of the works would be confirmed after consultation with architects, staff and parents. She said construction would begin within 12 months.
