POLICE are investigating all possible factors after a man died in a crash at Lockwood South on Monday morning.
The 64-year-old Bendigo man died in the single-vehicle crash on the Bendigo-Maldon Road shortly after 6am.
Bendigo Highway Patrol Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said the investigation was wide open in terms of possible factors causing the crash.
He said the car was travelling from Bendigo towards Maldon about 6am when it veered off to the right hand side of the road, hitting two trees.
Emergency services administered CPR at the scene, but could not revive the driver.
Other news:
Senior Sergeant Brooks said police would investigate the cause and prepare a report for the coroner.
"We're not really narrowing down any field of investigation at this stage, we'll leave it wide open until we examine the scene properly and get a good look at the damage to the car," he said.
"We'll be looking at everything. We'll be looking at speed, we'll be looking at whether there's evidence of any other issues, a medical issue perhaps. But it's wide open at the moment."
Senior Sergeant Brooks urged the community to stay safe on the road, as traffic volumes were likely to increase in the coming days.
"Drive to the conditions, be aware of where you are and what you're doing," he said.
