POLICE have doled out $24,785 in fines to people breaching COVID-19 restrictions south of Bendigo.
Five people from Melbourne's lockdown zone were given the fines after police stopped for a broken down car on the Calder Freeway at about 2.20am.
Officers found two cars, one of which was broken down when they pulled over at the Macedon exit near Gisborne.
Meanwhile, the Department of Health and Human Services has just released the latest tally of new COVID-19 cases across the state.
Twelve more Victorians have contracted the virus and one person has died.
Central Victoria's 14-day rolling average remains at 0.4.
Melbourne's is 9.3, with 10 mystery cases.
