The season will start from November 12 with each team playing 14 games as part of a regular 56-game season in addition to a four-game final series.
All of the WNBL's eight teams will relocate to north Queensland for the six-week shortened season which will see the grand final contested just before Christmas on December 20.
The partnership between the Queensland government and Basketball Australia will see games played in Cairns, Mackay and Townsville.
Villawood Properties Bendigo Spirit coach Tracy York said it had been a long planning process for the 2020 season.
"It's been a process of if and when, but it's great that it's now all official and we will finally get all the girls together on Monday in Bendigo before we will then head to Queensland in two weeks," York said.
York said one of the biggest challenges this season will be playing a condensed season, but that the team was ready for it.
"For any team it's definitely a challenge to play 14 games in around 32 days," York said.
"But we've been hard at work during this crazy time and have been holding online training sessions with the team in addition to fitness programs to prepare for this exact scenario," York said.
All athletes, coaches, officials and other team personnel from areas across the country identified as 'hotspots' will arrive in Brisbane later this month to undertake the 14-day mandatory quarantine period, during which they will have controlled access to training facilities at Nissan Arena, before they will then relocate to north Queensland.
Basketball Australia CEO Jerril Rechter AM said the entire league was thrilled to have the support of the Queensland government to make the 2020 season possible.
"On behalf of Basketball Australia, the WNBL clubs, players, coaches, officials, members and fans, would like to thank Premier Palaszczuk and Minister Kate Jones for their visionary support of women's basketball in Australia," Rechter said.
"Basketball Australia has been working in partnership with the eight club owners via their participation and collaboration on the WNBL Commission since the beginning of the pandemic.
"We all agreed it was critical to deliver the season and ensure the league puts a much-needed smile on the face of our fans and members, maintains the growth of women's basketball throughout Australia, and continues to inspire future generations of players, coaches and officials."
