Low key: Bendigo trainer Allen Browell.

ALLEN Browell is hoping he can go one step better than he did in 1979 in today’s $150,000 Patchwood Imports Bendigo Cup.The Bendigo trainer saddled up Drumshambo when it was beaten by Rothchild in the 1979 Bendigo Cup.Browell has Done And Dusted, an $81 outsider, entered for today’s Listed event.“Done And Dusted is my third Bendigo Cup runner,’’ Browell said this week.“We came close with Drumshambo . . . I think he was beaten a length.“It’s nice to have a runner in the race again.’’ The six-year-old mare has been set for three races in the past 12 months - the Marong Cup, the stayers final at the Swan Hill Cup carnival and today’s Bendigo Cup.“She won the other two races, so it would be nice if she could get this one as well,’’ Browell said.“Realistically, it’s going to be a tough ask, but I’m very happy with how she’s going. Her track gallop was good on Saturday and she’s in good shape.’’Done And Dusted finished just three-and-a-half lengths behind Courtney two starts ago at Seymour before being beaten less than a length in a three-horse race at Kilmore.A key factor for Done And Dusted is she drops significantly in weight on her runs this campaign. The last time she carried anything less than 54kg was her win at Swan Hill over 2100m where she defeated Roy’s Legacy and Just Don’t Ask.“From barrier one she should get a nice run in the race,’’ Browell added.
