Acting Sergeant Oliver said police were also investigating reports of a blue Holden Commodore seen driving erratically in the Epsom area earlier that morning. He urged anyone who had seen this to also contact Crime Stoppers.
Acting Sergeant Oliver said nearby residents assisting at the scene possibly helped save the life of one of the car's occupants.
"We're very thankful for the response that was rendered to the gentlemen in this car," he said.
"There were a number of people on scene really quickly, which is really positive and that may well have contributed to potentially saving one of the lives of the occupants."
OTHER NEWS:
Acting Sergeant Oliver urged all drivers to slow down, drive to their capabilities, and the condition of the roads. He said the news of the crash was horrible for families of the occupants.
"Nobody wants to witness collisions like this, or any collisions. Any life lost is one life too many lost on the roads," he said.
"This year the road toll remains lower, certainly it's no where near low enough. We want to get to zero."
