In the electorate of Bendigo there are an estimated 3,314 people living with Dementia, which is expected to increase to 6,233 by 2058.
For this year's Dementia Action Week, 21-27 September, the theme is 'Dementia - a little support makes a lot of difference'.
Findings from a survey conducted by Dementia Australia reveal just how big an issue discrimination is for people living with dementia, and is calling on our communities to make change.
A little bit of knowledge can make a lot of difference to understanding what people can do to support someone with dementia.
During the week, Dementia Australia will share one tip a day showing simple, yet effective, ways to support people living with dementia.

Supermarket needs to be built
The new supermarket being planned can only benefit Castlemaine.
It will stop people going to Bendigo to shop, it'll add employment and what better use to stop the current monopoly of stores in our town.

Concern about Strathfieldsaye plan
I cannot understand the idea of putting this new development (including petrol station, medical centre and enterprise park) on this particular piece of land.
It is right beside a school and near the intersection of Wellington Street and Tannery Lane.
The amount of traffic would be extremely high and the safety of the children would be very much compromised.
Hopefully it will get knocked back for the same reasons that the supermarket did in the past.

Population growth worries
Fast growth of population is one of the greatest problems we are facing. In the last 200 years it has risen nearly eight times.
This is causing economic misery, starvation, epidemics, social frictions, fighting and migration.
According to Google there are 26 million refugees and 79.5 million forcibly displaced persons in the world today.
