Jumpleads NFP in Golden Square was awarded the funding from the Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal. The money will go towards adapting the Skillin' It idea into a program that will help develop the skills of ten young people.
Golden Square resident Sam Kane was one of the young people who came up with Skillin' It during the ABC Heywire meeting in Canberra earlier this year.
"My group was focused on the area of community resilience and how we respond to help young people feel connected," Mr Kane said.

"Over the week of brainstorming and working together, we came up with the idea of Skillin' It.
"It's focused on knowledge and skill sharing across a range of areas, and connecting people together to ensure those who want to learn new things have a platform."
Jumpleads NFP and Make a Change executive director Karen Corr said the organisation was excited to support youth in the area.
"We're really keen to give young people an opportunity to get local support and link with local groups and businesses to get new skills and opportunities," Ms Corr said.
"The program specifically calls for 10 young people who will be supported and matched with a mentor in the local community. We're also really excited to partner with local organisations."
Mr Kane said it was great that an idea he worked on would support young people in Greater Bendigo.
"It's really exciting for young leaders to get mentoring and new skills," he said. "It's something that I always wished was available to me when I was growing up. I'm so excited there's now a program for other young people."
Ms Corr said there would be more information about the program and how people could apply in the coming months.
She encouraged young people to sign up to the mailing list at makeachange.org.au to keep up to date with the program.
