BENDIGO may not have snow, but that didn’t stop sled dog racing competitions going ahead at the weekend.Competitors have adapted their sport to the Aussie bush, ditching the skis and adding wheels to their sleds.Competitor Jon Marcollo raced on a dog scooter with his Siberian husky-Border Collie cross, Molli. He said the dogs loved to stretch their legs."That’s what they’re born to do," he said.Mr Marcollo said the weekend competition at Inglewood had proved popular and was the first of a series of events planned for the region.Dogs and their sleds will be out racing again at the Wellsford Forest this weekend, and then Knowsley State Forest the following weekend.
