The star all-rounder returns to the Borough after playing with Spotswood in sub-district cricket in Melbourne last summer.
"I enjoyed playing with Spotswood, but the travel was a bit too much,'' Jacobs said.
"It's easier to stay home and play with Eaglehawk and, with the way everything is at the moment, country Victoria is a better place to be."
Jacobs top-scored with 51 and took 2-19 for Spotswood in the grand final against Aberfeldie. The four-day game was abandoned after two days because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
"It was a good experience to play a different brand of cricket,'' Jacobs said of his season with Spotswood.
"There were a lot of international cricketers in the league and it was good to experience cricket in a different way to how we play it here.
"They probably play similar tactics to Premier Cricket where they're more defensive, whereas we're probably more aggressive in the way we play in Bendigo. It was a ripping club, it's just a shame it was a bit too far away."
Jacobs headlines three key recruits for the Borough, with paceman Richard Tibbett and leg-spinner Russell Stockdale also returning to the club.
Under new coach Matt White, the Borough blooded young players last summer and the future looks bright.
"I watched a couple of games at the end of the season and the young guys really impressed me,'' Jacobs said.
"We always knew Ben Williams was going to be a good player. Angus Chisholm looks very good and Nash Viney looks like he's going to be a good player.
"It was good that Nick Farley got the opportunity to take the new ball and get some overs into him."
With no football to play in the winter, Jacobs can't wait to get back into competitive sport when the BDCA begins.
"I'm not sure if my wife loves or hates having me home this much,'' he said with a chuckle.
"I think I had 15-straight years of footy and cricket back-to-back before this year. It's been good to slow down and spend more time at home with my son, but it will be nice to play some sport again.
"I'm running out of jobs to do at home or maybe I'm sick of doing jobs around the house."
