Cameras follow the Bendigo Animal Hospital's Chris Allison and the Bendigo Equine Hospital's Mike Whiteford for Scottish Vets Down Under, a 12-part series released on ABC iview on Thursday.
It comes months after the series' successful run on the United Kingdom's BBC Scotland channel.
More news:
Dr Allison said people in his home country loved learning about Australia.
"I know that's why I came here," he said.
Dr Allison said it had been pretty weird becoming the star of a television show, especially as neither he nor Dr Whiteford had sought out fame.
A producer reached out to him after a producer Googled 'Scottish vets Australia" and noticed his previous work at a prominent Melbourne vet clinic.
Dr Allison has heard good things from Scottish family and friends.
"I guess I would be worried if they did not say positive things," he joked.
"If it were up to my mother we would be on season three already."
Dr Whiteford found the new limelight strange. He had only seen a few rough cuts of episodes before they aired in Scotland.
"It's like listening to your own voice," he said.
Both men said they had really enjoyed being part of the show.
The cameras captured Dr Whiteford performing lifesaving surgeries on horses during a busy spring birthing season.
They also follow Dr Allison in his work with everything from koalas to venomous snakes.
Yet that was not the part of the show that surprised Dr Allison's parents.
"I've always worked with exotic animals, even when I was in Scotland, and I grew up with them as pets. So Mum and Dad have always known I'm a little bit weird," he said.
"The strange thing for them was seeing me in a serious, professional setting. They know me as a bit of a joker."
The vets are not the only Bendigonians to star in TV shows currently hitting the airwaves.
Two prospectors unearthed two gold nuggets worth a combined $350,000 for Aussie Gold Hunters, which plays on the Discovery Channel on Thursdays at 7.30pm.
Every episode of Scottish Vets Down Under is available on ABC iview.
