Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Richard Russell said a cold front sweeping across Victoria will be led by showers and possible storms.
"We are seeing conditions destabilise and (expect) showers across a lot of the state, especially in the western part of Victoria," he said.
"As we move into Wednesday, we will see a good cold front move across the state.
"Starting in the west, it could see the potential for thunderstorms, mainly in the north west of the state. Any storms (that arrive) will have the potential for strong or damaging winds."

Mr Russell said there would also be the possibility of snow as low as 600 metres later in the week.
"Heavier showers can cause snow flurries lower than that," he said. "It could including places like Mount Dandenong, upper Macedon and above Ballarat."
Bendigo has received 4.6 millimetres of rain since Tuesday.
Forecasts for Bendigo expect temperatures to reach 11 degrees on Wednesday with a very high chance of showers that will ease late in the afternoon and evening. Bendigo is tipped for a top of 13 on Thursday and 11 on Friday.
Castlemaine will reach a top of 10 degrees on Wednesday while Echuca will reach 12 degrees and Maryborough a top of 11.
