Defending the media
I have to disagree with Colin McCrae's charges that the Bendigo Advertiser is creating a public outcry and mayhem over the COVID 19 situation in Bendigo, simply to sell more newspapers.

I find that statement extraordinary.
While often the Addy shows a transparent leaning to the politically correct left, which makes my teeth curl, in this matter the reporting is as unbiased and informative as one could expect.
If we end up in level four restrictions, it will be because people are not doing the right things.
The Advertiser is a business, it is of course trying to sell newspapers. I find it unlikely they are trying to drum up sales by sensationalising the situation.
There is no need. I think most people are aware of how serious it is.

Straight down the line
In response to Colin McCrae's letter Thursday, August 13.
Colin, I appreciate your opinion but disagree with it.
I think of all the papers the Bendigo Addy is straight down the line.
If the people of Greater Bendigo ignore what is going on like a lot still are, we will end up in stage four, let's just hope not.
I saw four people all within two metres of each other smoking, having a coffee and having a chat. Of course you can't smoke and drink coffee wearing a mask, but why not distance yourself?
There are still a lot of naysayers out there and people that think 'It won't happen to me', or 'COVID-19 doesn't exist'.
If we do the right think like NZ did, we will get through this.

QEO a cricket hub?
As there are suggestions that during the incoming cricket season the Victoria Sheffield Shield team should be relocated to an interstate location, it is worthwhile to propose that the Queen Elizabeth Oval would be a suitable location.
The ground has been virtually unused since the grand final last year and so it should be in excellent condition.
There should be plenty of accommodation to house the players and provide a basis for the elite players to earn foreign currency of international fixtures.
It is an oxymoron for the team to be located outside Victoria.
