Bendigo is set for a late winter drenching, with rain forecast to fall every day for at least the next week.
The Bureau of Meteorology is predicting as much as 15 millimetres of rain to fall next Tuesday, with a high chance of showers for the rest of this week.
During the past two decades, an average of 51.2mm of rain has fallen in August.
37.8mm of rain has already been recorded at the Bendigo Airport gauge this year, which eclipses last year's total August rainfall of 33.4mm.
BOM's most recent climate outlook, published last week, reveals eastern Australia should expect a "wetter than average" three month period from September.
Despite the forecast of wet weather, overnight low's are expected to be well above the August average in the next seven days.
Minimum temperature's as high as six degrees Celsius are forecast during the next week, exceeding the average August low of 2.8 degrees.
Thursday's forecast is cloudy, with a high chance of showers and an expected maximum of 16 degrees.
