Wet and windy weather will hit the state's north overnight Thursday, Bureau of Meteorology senior forecaster Chris Arvier said.
"Really, the heaviest totals will be in the northern agricultural districts like the Mallee, the Wimmera and the northern country," he said.

Bendigo might not need to brace for the 40mm predicted in some areas further north.
Some areas will be buffeted by strong winds overnight, though they will mostly be at higher elevations.
Central Victoria will miss some of the weekend rain deluges expected in the south of Victoria and across Gipplsland, Mr Arvier said.
Elmore agronomist Greg Toomey said the predictions are looking good for farmers.
The last two months had been drier than average but that was no bad thing for some parts of his patch, where the ground had been forced to soak up slightly too much rain in some areas for croppers' liking.
"Rain from now onward will be highly welcome, and highly utilised by crops," Mr Toomey said.
He hoped for more rainfall over the next two weeks to set paddocks up for the spring growing season.
"The bureau is predicting average to above average rainfall through spring. It's looking pretty good at the moment," Mr Toomey said, even as he cautioned that farmers never take rain predictions for granted.
