A WOMAN attempting to travel to Bendigo from Melbourne via train has been fined for breaching public health orders.

The fine was among 172 issued in the past 24 hours for breaching the Chief Health Officer's directions.
The woman was intercepted at Southern Cross Station attempting to travel to Bendigo.
Police have not provided any more details about the incident.
Twenty-two fines issued in the past 24 hours have been at vehicle checkpoints.
Twenty-seven were for failing to wear a face covering when leaving home.
Among those fined was a Keilor man intercepted by police in the Surf Coast. He admitted to police he had travelled there on Friday to stay at his holiday home.
A Sunshine man was found in Melbourne playing Pokemon Go.

Two men were found at a fast food outlet in Hobsons Bay. They said they had come from a friend's house in Altona where they stayed overnight.
A group of people who celebrated a birthday in short-term rental in Point Cook were also fined.
