A KYNETON man has been charged with multiple driving offences, allegedly discovered after he hit a kangaroo near Echuca.

Kyabram police officers responded to a call for assistance for a car crash involving a kangaroo on Sunday morning about 3am.
At the scene a 38-year-old male from Kyneton arrived and told police he was the person who hit the kangaroo.
He allegedly told police he did not have a drivers licence, and had been drinking before the crash.

Police also discovered his car's registration was suspended.
Officers conducted a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result for alcohol.
The driver accompanied officers to the Echuca Police station where he returned a breath alcohol reading of 0.235.
The vehicle was impounded for 30 days at a cost of $1005, and the driver will appear in the Magistrates' Court at a later date.
