The event is intended to showcase talent from the Kyneton area and stimulate discussion about local ideas and initiatives to a broader audience.
Sustainability, community building and cultural heritage are among the potential talk topics.
TEDx Kyneton founding director Paul Kooperman found out his application for a license was successful late last month.
He has invited interested speakers to apply to present at the event.
TEDx Kyneton is planned for November, at this stage.
Up to 20 women from the Kyneton area might have the opportunity to speak on the day.
Mr Kooperman believed women were underrepresented in sharing their ideas, hence the focus on women speakers.
People would be able to attend the event in person, in addition to recordings being made available online.
Mr Kooperman said there would be a limit to how many people could attend, as per the conditions of the license.
At least six months of work went into getting the event licensed by TEDx.
"I think it's really exciting for Kyneton and the region," Mr Kooperman said.
