About 618,000 Victorian students in years three to 10 were back in class on Tuesday.
They joined students in prep, grades one and two, and years 11 and 12 who returned to school on May 26.

"It's been absolutely fantastic," he said. "It's all gone very, very smoothly. All of the kids are happy to be back and there are lots of happy families and parents."

Many schools have introduced staggered drop-off and pick-ups to reduce the number of adults around school grounds at any one time.
All schools are also implementing social distancing measures for their staff, as well as increased cleaning.
"We're just looking forward to getting back into some sort of routine," Mr Eddy said.
"It's certainly been a great start and we're hoping it continues through the week."
