The Redente gelding notched up his fourth win from just 12 starts courtesy of a thrilling performance at Wangaratta last Thursday.
A fighting benchmark 64 victory over 1400m, against his usual racing pattern after drawing a rare inside barrier, gave Tatunka back-to-back wins for the first time in his young career following his eye-catching win at Seymour 14 days earlier.
Donat conceded some small concern with his chances after drawing barrier one, but said those worries were offset by the gelding being in the more-than-capable hands of Dylan Dunn, who has ridden Tatunka in all four of his wins.
"Dylan knows what he's doing - I just left it up to him," he told broadcaster Racing.com.
The win was impressive on another front, with Tatunka carting the top weight of 62kg.
It extended the gelding's overall record to four wins and three placings from 12 starts for $91,705 in prizemoney.
His first win came on debut at Kyneton, while his second was at start number eight on his home track at Bendigo.
Donat said he would consider a trip to Melbourne for Tatunka's next run, "possibly a (benchmark) 70 at Sandown."
