Finning will be aiming to cap a remarkable year that has included contesting the world track championships and several world cup meetings by racing well at the Tom Flood Sports Centre.
The Bendigo carnival will be the fourth of five run across the Christmas-New Year holidays.
The action kicks off today at Horsham and includes tomorrow's Ladies Diamond Stakes, the richest wheelrace for women in Australia, at Ararat.
On Friday, hundreds of cyclists will compete in the Central Goldfields Carnival at Maryborough before heading to Bendigo.
Memories of last year's Lindsay Harrington Memorial wheelrace final will be a spur for the Castlemaine champion.
Finning led at the bell in the 2006 finale, but was outsprinted by Brunswick's Gary Mueller.
The win capped Mueller's return to track cycling. The hometown hopes include Tim Decker, David Pell, Zak Dempster, Jarrod Moroni, Jamie Crass, Josh Gundry, Kyle Marwood, Tim Bennett, Sean Pontelandolfo, and many more.
First raced in 1992, the Lindsay Harrington Memorial Wheelrace was first run as part of the Bendigo International Madison athletics-cycling carnival on the Labour Day weekend in March.
Previous winners include Terry and Elaine Harrington's youngest son, Jamie, along with Brent McCaig, Matthew Allan, Stephen Pate, Brad Norton, and Toby Lennon.
This Saturday's racing starts at noon for juniors, and 5.30 pm for seniors.
