For weeks Victoria was the only the state where golf was prohibited, but that changed on Monday morning when premier Daniel Andrews announced an easing of certain COVID restrictions.
The announcement on Monday was welcomed by clubs throughout the Bendigo district.
"We're ready to go," Neangar Park GC president Phil DeAraugo said.
"Our course is in fantastic condition as the ground staff have done an excellent job to keep it maintained, while always complying with social distancing requirements."
The Neangar Park GC committee plans to ease expected congestion at the club by "spreading" the load of golfers evenly throughout week.
"We want to try and avoid everyone playing on one or two busy days and instead spread it out.
"All players will need to pre-book rounds and we also encourage the use of the COVIDsafe app."
Bendigo Golf Club general manager Liam Carney was pleased members would be able to get back on the course.
"It's fantastic news as all of our members are keen to get back to playing for a number of different reasons," he said.
"And from a financial standpoint, it will ease the burden from a lot of lost revenue during the past 5-6 weeks."
Clubhouses and full functioning pro-shops are expected to remain off limits for now, but club competitions alone will help regain one portion of usual revenue stream.
Bendigo GC plans to hit the ground running with competitions held on most days, again to help ease the pressure of members trying to play in the Saturday tournament, the busiest of the week.
"Given all that we're trying to achieve, we will keep it spread across the week and will restrict it to member only rounds," Carney said.
Belvoir Park GC has been planning for this moment for the past few weeks.
Now that clubs have the green-light, the club is more than ready to get back to operation.
"This will allow us to get back to some form of normality as a club and to enable us to get some trade back through our doors," Belvoir Park president Mark Perry said.
"As a committee we've had a lot of discussions around returning to golf and our plan is to get straight back to competitions."
While the club has been closed to players the ground staff have taken advantage and focused on improving the overall maintenance of the course.
"The one benefit has been for the ground keepers who had the rare opportunity to work on the course without the usual amount of players," Perry said.
It's not just players who went without during restrictions, courses were also left with the difficult decision to temporarily stand down staff and reduce work hours to cope with lost revenue.
Axedale GC secretary Owen Davies said it was a welcome message for members, staff and players.
"We have appreciated the work the government has done in terms of locking down courses to reduce the spread of the virus," Davies said.
"They have done a superb job even through we have been frustrated that other states have been able to play. We were abiding by the rules and closed our course immediately.
"But now that it is safe to do so, we couldn't be more rapt to have the go-ahead come back on Wednesday."
Even though courses will open, strict social distancing measures will still apply which includes: 1.5m distance between players, no rakes in bunkers, removal or no handling of flags and a range of other rules.
It is expected a list of more detailed rules will be released by Golf Australia between now and Wednesday.
But either way, dust off the golf clubs, warm up the swing because it's time to hit the course.
