But the sudden cacophony on Tuesday afternoon was anything but an inconsiderate gathering of neighbourhood hoons.
It was instead a deluge of thoughtful well-wishers rolling into Bobs Street to give resident Jaylen Trenfield a moment to remember on his birthday.
Jaylen celebrated the first day of his 15th year in isolation with his family on Tuesday.
One of his favourite things is booming noise levels, mother Trish said.
"He likes big trucks cars and basically anything that makes lots of noise," she said.
Jaylen is legally blind, has cerebral palsy and severe autism.
"So it's all about audio, for him," Trish said.
"A friend of ours once turned up on a Harley and let Jaylen rev it. He was so excited."
More news:
Jaylen is among Bendigo Special Developmental School students unable to attend classes.
The change has been difficult for Jaylen, who has high support needs and likes a strict routine, Trish said.
"Bendigo Special Developmental School have been fantastic through this whole homeschooling period," she said.
"But Jaylen's been totally thrown. He has declined a little bit. Before he finished at the school he had learnt to eat and was going through a whole lunchbox each day."
Jaylen is now drinking vitamin rich milk, though not even an unfolding pandemic will keep him from his favourite snack, chips.
"We love him to bits. He's happy and at least semi-healthy at the moment. We just wanted to brighten his day," Trish said.
So when Jaylen's father asked social media to help celebrate his son's birthday on Tuesday people responded by jumping in cars and on motorbikes and heading for White Hills.
"People were sharing the post everywhere," Trish said.
"You mention a child with special needs and people jump out of the trees to help. And we know a lot of people in the community."
She said that Jaylen might have appeared to be upset as some of the first drivers who rolled down Bobs Street revving their engines.
"He can find things very overwhelming but once he processes that he will be so excited," Trish.
