The jockey club's chief executive officer James Heddo said an ID area would be set up at the Patchwood Imports Bendigo Cup on Wednesday for people who were aged 18 and older, but might not want to be asked for identification each time they went to the bar.
"Our bar staff will be instructed to send any person who looks like they may need to have their age identification verified to the registration area near the main entrance, where they will receive a stamp after showing photo identification," Mr Heddo said.
"Alternatively, patrons may wish to visit the registration area to have their identification verified and receive a stamp before they head to the bars.
"I'm certain this will alleviate any concerns there are regarding underage drinking on the day."
General admission to the cup is $20 and concession admission is $12.
