The team at Lifeline Central Victoria and Mallee have welcomed a new team member.
Viggo is a cat that had been at the Bendigo Animal Relief Centre for several months, until the team at Lifeline adopted him.
Lifeline Central Victoria and Mallee chief executive Rebecca Cornish says Lifeline staff and volunteers are always there for those who need them.
"The benefits that animals provide such as stress reduction, a calming and comforting influence and unconditional love is well documented," Ms Cornish said.
"Viggo's calm disposition and friendly nature has been a beautiful addition for our centre."
Lifeline approached Petstock Bendigo, hoping to adopt a cat.
Ms Cornish said Petstock did not hesitate to get on board and help out in a big way.
Petstock Bendigo manager Katherine Currie says Lifeline is a great organisation that do a lot of good work.
"If we can sponsor Viggo, who provides support to the call takers and gives them a distraction from all the issues they have to deal with, we are happy to," Ms Curie said.
Petstock will be donating food and other items for the entirety of Viggo's life.
"We are providing food, litter, cat scratching poles and anything he needs to keep him happy," Ms Currie said.
"Viggo participates in all aspects of our work from welcoming new volunteers to being present for training, during emotionally challenging calls and in breaks for pats," Ms Cornish said.
Lifeline provides support for people experiencing a personal crisis with access to online and phone support.
