The Bendigo Braves product is heading overseas on a scholarship to play college basketball at Regis University in Colorado for the 2020-21 season.
Throughout his entire life playing college basketball has been the focus, with the plan of using it as a stepping stone to the NBA.
"I'm now dreaming even higher about what's next to accomplish," Daniels said.
"This is now one step closer to the NBA and I've heard a lot of stories from my dad on his time during college.
"It's inspired me to choose this pathway."
The decision was a no-brainer for Daniels and he is thrilled to have been given the opportunity.
"I love new opportunities and I just can't wait to get over there. I am not nervous at all.
"All I feel is pure excitement."
Daniels hails from a pure basketball blooded family with his father Ricky, brothers Dyson and Dash all having played with the Braves.
Moving to the US has been years in the making for Kai and has taken endless hours of practice, games and off-court training to realise his dream.
"The people I have surrounded myself with in the past two years have helped me along the way and given me great pointers as they know exactly what it takes to achieve your goals," he said.
"It's a mental game."
Regis University is located in Denver Colorado, with the Rangers as the university's sports team.
The Basketball team is a division two National Collegiate Athletic Association squad that competes in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
Normally before an athlete signs a college deal they are able to tour the campus for a firsthand taste of what's to come.
However, amid the coronavirus crisis, Daniels relied on the use of technology to get a glimpse of what life will be like in Colorado.
"Usually before you head to college you would get to visit and have a tour, but because of everything going on with coronavirus I had a FaceTime tour," he said.
"I've never been there before in person, but I have heard really great things about Regis."
Daniels will be joined by some familiar faces in the US at Regis.
"A lot of the scouting was done at the national championships and another Aussie player was signed, Jacob Richards from Tasmania," Daniels said.
"I've also been talking to the coach and he mentioned another player from NSW who has been there for two years.
"There are plenty of Aussies who are now choosing the college basketball pathway."
In addition to playing, Daniels also has his eyes set on the academic side of things.
He plans to study either project management or engineering as he wants to make the most of his opportunity at college.
In the meantime before he heads off he is hard at work refining his skills on the family's backyard court, in addition to staying physically fit.
"I've been doing a lot of running lately to ensure I keep my physical endurance up," he said.
"I've also got a lot of weights in the backyard which I've been pumping to put on some muscle."
